The NFPA 17, 2024 Edition, Standard for Dry Chemical Extinguishing Systems is the main guide for creating, setting up, checking, keeping in good condition, and refilling fixed dry chemical fire suppression systems. These systems include total flooding, local application, and hand hose line types.
The standard covers everything from the start of a system’s life to when it’s taken out of service. It includes parts like detectors, nozzles, and storage tanks. The 2024 update makes it clearer what “deficiency” and “impairment” mean and adds extra help in Annex B for common problems.
